The company under 20 words:

JobShine offers automated data-driven hiring solution for the blue-collar & front-line job market.

How has COVID-19 impacted the company / business?

User traffic to our platform has went down multi-fold as many businesses that rely on front-line and non-PMET staffs has closed their operation or went on with headcount reduction. This had a direct impact on our customer acquisition and revenue generation as well as expansion plans.

What are some of the adjustments you had to make in order to minimize disruptions?

We have noticed that despite many businesses closing operation, certain industries thrived. For example, increased demand for delivery drivers, cleaners, etc. We started offering premium services free of charge to support those employers to aid them in hiring of workers with extended customer support.

We are also planning to run online/virtual events to educate job seekers on the different grants/support/opportunities/courses/programmes available to sustain through this challenging period and make the best of it.

Name one technology / platform which you find useful in these times and why?

Messaging platforms (Emails/ WhatsApp/ Messenger) – they help us reach out to our current and potential users with relative ease.

Are you currently working from home? If so, how has it been in terms of efficiency?

Yes – it’s equally efficient (no impact!)! Since we are data-driven & a software company, most of the development and operational work has been done online from the beginning. We used to work from home even before COVID-19 happened. Our team members seem to have a heightened awareness of their role in the company when telecommuting, hence working from home seems slightly more efficient at times. The downside is that we have to learn to be more disciplined, particularly in getting rid of distractions.

Any shout-outs / rants you would like to add on

Shout-out to SG government for being proactive and everyone for being so patient and cooperative!
